Below is a complete listing of Marcellus Shale legislation before the Pennsylvania House and Senate. The Marcellus Shale is a sedimentary rock formation that contains largely untapped natural gas reserves, State Senator Gene Yaw (R-23) compiled the list for a presentation at a natural gas summit in State College, Pa., on November 16, 2009. Only one bill in the listing—House Bill 1416, Act 50—has been approved. This bill opens up more state lands for oil and gas leasing. All other bills are pending.
