Cynthia A. Baldwin has close to thirty years' experience in trial and appellate litigation. Joining Duane Morris in 2008 after retiring from the judiciary, Ms. Baldwin consults on trial and appellate litigation and mediates complex cases with special focus on products liability, medical negligence and commercial cases. Ms. Baldwin is a neutral with both the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and the United States District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania. She also practices in the area of non-profit governance, working with a variety of organizations from churches to colleges and universities.
A member of Law Review at Duquesne Law School, Fulbright Lecturer and Guest Scholar at the Brookings Institution, Ms. Baldwin was a trial judge in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas for 16 years before being appointed to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court by Governor Rendell. A distinguished public servant, she previously served as Attorney-in-Charge and Deputy Attorney General, Western Regional Office of Attorney General, Bureau of Consumer Protection. Ms. Baldwin is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Pennsylvania State University, which she chaired from 2004-2007 and a director emerita of the Duquesne University's Board of Directors. She currently chairs the Association of Governing Boards of Colleges and Universities (AGB) in Washington, DC. Ms. Baldwin was a professor at Duquesne University School of Law and has lectured and taught extensively both in the United States and internationally.
