George W. Powell, Jr. practices in the areas of eminent domain, real property taxation, land use and real property repositioning and restructuring. Mr. Powell has 30 years' experience advising clients on real estate valuation matters, and focuses his practice on matters where property value is the primary issue. Mr. Powell represents private property owners whose property has been taken by condemning authorities and has represented clients in government condemnations across the United States. He also represents property owners in ad valorem tax, business profit loss and tangible property tax matters and consults on real property repositioning. Mr. Powell is a consultant to the outdoor advertising industry in eminent domain and real property tax matters.
Prior to entering the practice of law, Mr. Powell headed a regional real estate valuation firm providing litigation support in complex eminent domain and real property tax matters and consulting on real property workouts and repositioning for troubled or failed projects. He holds the distinguished MAI and CRE professional designations from the Appraisal Institute and The Counselors of Real Estate, respectively, and is a New Jersey-certified tax assessor and general real estate appraiser. Mr. Powell is a member of the American, Florida and Dade County bar associations and serves on the Eminent Domain Committee of The Florida Bar. Mr. Powell is a member of both the Outdoor Advertising Association of America and the Florida Outdoor Advertising Association.
Admitted to practice in Florida and New Jersey, Mr. Powell is an honors graduate of Rutgers University School of Law - Camden and a graduate of Bucknell University.

- Appealed 2009 real property assessment for a real estate investment trust in Hillsborough County, Fla., resulting in $2.13 million assessment reduction, saving $45,900 in property taxes.
- Appealed 2009 real property assessment for a luxury home builder in Collier County, Fla., resulting in $3.88 million assessment reduction, saving more than $45,200 in property taxes.
- Appealed 2009 real property assessment for a shopping center owner in Allegheny County, Pa., after a major tenant declared bankruptcy, resulting in a 45 percent assessment reduction, saving more than $152,500 in property taxes.
