Joseph M. Bennett-Paris, Ph.D, counsels clients in matters of patent prosecution, non-infringement, patentability, invalidity, and various other legal issues. He focuses primarily on the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries with specific emphasis on the generic drug industry. His practice also includes copyright matters and entertainment law, particularly with regard to the music and publishing industries. A member of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the American Bar Association and the Atlanta and Georgia State bar associations, Dr. Bennett-Paris is active in Georgia Bio, a life sciences partnership, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he provides pro bono work to the arts community through the Georgia Lawyers for the Arts. Prior to entering law, he served on the faculty of the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
Dr. Bennett-Paris is a 1999 graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Law and a graduate of Loyola University Chicago (Ph.D., Pharmacology) and the University of Southern California (B.S., Biological Sciences).

- Wyeth v. Apotex Inc., and Apotex Corp., Case No. 08-022308 (S.D. FL). Patent infringement action regarding Apotex's ANDA to make a generic version of Wyeth's anti-depressant product EFFEXOR® XR, the active ingredient of which is venlafaxine hydrochloride.
- Aventis Pharma S.A. and Sanofi-Aventis U.S., LLC v. Apotex Inc. and Apotex Corp., Case No. 08-496 (GMS) (D. Del). Patent infringement action regarding Apotex's ANDA to make a generic version of Sanofi-aventis anti-cancer product Taxotere®, the active ingredient of which is docetaxel.
