Karen C. Kline practices in the area of intellectual property law, with concentrations in trademark, patent and copyright procurement, enforcement and licensing, as well as IP litigation. Ms. Kline has counseled clients in all aspects of their domestic and international trademark portfolios. Ms. Kline also has experience in patent prosecution for clients in diverse technology fields, including biology, chemistry, and mechanical engineering. Ms. Kline has also participated in patent and trademark disputes in federal district courts, before the U.S. International Trade Commission and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Ms. Kline also assists clients in technology-related transactional matters, including structuring, negotiating, drafting, implementing and providing legal advice regarding software and technology licensing, development, consulting and service agreements.
Prior to entering the practice of law, Ms. Kline worked for the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health, where she coordinated with Institute program staff, principal investigators, and various research institutions to evaluate, award, and monitor research grant applications.
Ms. Kline is a 2008 graduate, with honors, of George Washington University Law School, where she was a Thurgood Marshall Scholar and a managing editor of The George Washington International Law Review. Ms. Kline is also a graduate of George Washington University (M.B.A., 2004) and the University of Miami (B.S., Biology, 2000).

- Counsel to a beauty products company for patent prosecution involving cosmetic compositions.
- Counsel to a food products company, including management of an intellectual property portfolio that included more than 1,000 domestic and foreign trademark matters.
- Counsel to an optical retailer for patent re-examinations involving eyewear devices.
- Counsel to a supplier of optoelectronics devices and components for patent litigation before the International Trade Commission; member of litigation team from pre-filing stages through hearing and post-hearing submissions.
