Robert E. Scheid, Ph.D. practices in the area of intellectual property law with a focus on patent prosecution related to electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer software and aerospace technology. Specific technologies have included control systems, animation, data security/encryption, resource optimization, business methods, databases, integrated hardware/software, distributed computing, wireless networks, network switches, storage devices, analog circuits, digital design, optical devices, plasma processing, medical/x-ray devices, robotics and micro-electromechanical systems. His practice includes the preparation of reexamination requests, validity/infringement opinions, due diligence and general IP counseling.
Prior to entering the practice of law, Dr. Scheid was a senior member of the technical staff at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, working on control technology for projects such as the Pathfinder Mission to Mars and the Cassini Mission to Saturn. He has received more than 15 NASA Technical Brief Awards for his work in advanced aerospace technology and has contributed more than 40 articles to technical publications.
Dr. Scheid is admitted to practice in California and the District of Columbia and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is a 1994 graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law and a graduate of the California Institute of Technology (Ph.D., Applied Mathematics) and Carnegie Mellon University (B.S. with University honors, Mathematics).
