As an undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley, she was an Alumni Scholar and received awards for academic and community service achievement.

Ms. Belen is a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco, Asian American Bar Association, American Bar Association, Women in Workers' Compensation, and Minority Corporate Counsel Association. She is a 1994 graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law and a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley.
