Practicing in the business litigation, corporate and insurance coverage areas, Mr. Rome has significant experience handling all aspects of civil litigation, from pre-trial discovery and motion practice to settlement and trial. His work has included numerous commercial disputes including securities industry FINRA arbitrations, intellectual property, environmental law, employment, real estate, ERISA, antitrust and RICO matters. 

Mr. Rome's client representation also involves corporate and transactional work. For more than two years, Mr. Rome has spent significant time working in-house at a major biotech company in the Bay Area. Working closely with the client's general counsel, he has assisted with numerous corporate matters involving regulatory compliance, intellectual property, real estate and employment issues.  Mr. Rome has drafted and negotiated hundreds of commercial contracts, including several international distribution, sponsorship and manufacturing agreements. He has also greatly enhanced the client's internal use of its Law and Patents Department by developing and providing legal training programs to various departments.

In the insurance coverage field, Mr. Rome has represented domestic and London Market insurers and brokers in federal and state courts in California and Oregon. Matters include an extensive role at the trial court and appellate levels in Schnitzer Investment Corp. v. Certain Underwriters at Lloyd's, London, et al., culminating in a June 30, 2006 opinion by the Oregon Supreme Court affirming the Court of Appeals and trial court victories.

Mr. Rome is active in pro bono activities, currently volunteering for Legal Services for Children.  He has also volunteered for the Center for Law & Global Justice and represented a Pelican Bay state prison inmate in a two-week federal civil rights trial.

Mr. Rome is a 1994 graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review, and a graduate of Claremont McKenna College. Mr. Rome has lived and worked abroad extensively and speaks Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.
