Duane Morris Partner Marvin G. Pickholz to Moderate Plenary Session at ABA's National Institute on Securities Fraud
October 3, 2008 | Arlington, Virginia
| Hyatt Regency-Crystal City
Duane Morris partner Marvin G. Pickholz will be on the steering committee for and moderating a plenary session at the ABA's third annual National Institute on Securities Fraud, to be held October 2-3, 2008, in Arlington, Virginia. Mr. Pickholz will lead a panel discussion on the topic of "The Globalization of the Federal Securities Laws," occurring on Friday, October 3, at 8:45 a.m. Mr. Pickholz is one of the founders of the ABA National Institute, now in its third year.
About the Plenary Session
Doing business on United States soil is no longer a prerequisite to being charged here. And being charged overseas no longer guarantees that the rule of comity will prevail and there won't be a parallel prosecution in the United States. Learn from a knowledgeable panel what drives the decisions to look overseas to prosecute people who violate the federal securities laws, how those prosecutions are pursued and what rules guide international engagement.
About the ABA's National Institute on Securities Fraud
The third annual National Institute on Securities Fraud will provide an in-depth, cutting-edge and rewarding educational experience for all practitioners, including prosecutors, regulators, compliance officers and defense counsel. Top officials and luminaries from the SEC, DOJ, law schools, the judiciary, corporations and top-tier law firms will share their insights concerning a multitude of important subjects. Recent activity during 2007 and 2008 continues to demonstrate, once again, that securities fraud enforcement remains a top priority at DOJ and that close collaboration and parallel investigations with the SEC are here to stay.
