Duane Morris Partner Steven Richman to Be Moderator of N.J. CLE Program on Boilerplate Provisions
September 17, 2009 | New Brunswick, New Jersey
| New Jersey Law Center
Duane Morris partner Steven M. Richman will moderate a New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (NJICLE) program on the topic of "Document Drafting: Avoiding Hot Water When Using Boilerplate Provisions," to be held on Thursday, September 17, 2009, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Mr. Richman will also discuss "Choice of Law." The program begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 12:30 p.m.
About the Program
When drafting any type of contract or business agreement, one should keep in mind that boilerplate provisions are never really boilerplate. In fact, using boilerplate provisions can expose the client to several risks. Often, the result is litigation involving language used in an original document. The issue of boilerplate language is far reaching, beginning with drafting the initial business arrangement and extending to litigation of commercial cases. One may encounter issues involving boilerplate provisions in business law practice, drafting employment agreements, dealing with international law issues, and other types of contracts and agreements.
