About the Programs
Drugs & Dietary: New Target Presentation
The federal and state regulators have stepped up scrutiny not only of pharmaceutical companies which manufacture drugs, but of facilities which dispense the drugs to their residents and how a resident’s nutritional status is affected. This session will discuss the state and federal regulations governing drugs and nutritional requirements, current survey and enforcement regulations and trends and will offer guidance on corroboration between a facility, its dietitian and its consultant pharmacist to avoid deficiencies.
Ligas v. Maram
Ligas v. Maram was filed in 2005 by nine individuals with developmental disabilities seeking declaratory and injunctive relief against the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), claiming violations of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitiation Act, and Title XIX of the Social Security Act. This session will discuss the legal and practical effects of the Ligas lawsuit on facilities providing ICF/MR services.
