Duane Morris Partner Joanne Erde to Present Healthcare Financial Management Association Webcast
November 12, 2009 | Webcast
Duane Morris partner Joanne B. Erde will be presenting a Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) webcast on the topic of "Ready for the Medicaid Integrity Program? You think RACs are a nightmare? Well, get ready for the MIP!" taking place on Thursday, November 12, 2009, from 2 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. (Central time).
About the Webcast
Just when you thought that it couldn't get any worse than Medicare's Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) Program, the Medicaid Integrity Program (MIP) has begun its rollout across the country. The MIP is the first federal program to review and audit payments made to providers by state Medicaid programs. The MIP is designed to provide a level of review that is in addition to, rather than instead of, the established state Medicaid integrity program efforts. The main thrust of the MIP is to identify and recoup overpayments, although fraud referrals can also be made.
The following key areas will be covered:
- Overview of Medicaid's Payment Recovery Program
- Appeal process
- Different types of Medicaid Integrity Contractors
- Techniques contractors will use to identify "high risk" areas
Intended Audience
Among those who may be interested in this program are: chief financial officers, chief executive officers, chief medical officers, medical staff leadership, revenue cycle directors, corporate compliance officers, medical records department managers, coding and billing managers, patient access managers and revenue cycle/patient access staff and other personnel for hospitals, nursing homes and health systems.
