Duane Morris Partner Sheila Hollis to Speak at the National Environment, Energy and Resources Law Summit: A New Environment - 2010 and Beyond
April 16, 2010 | Montréal, Canada
| Marriott Chateau Champlain
Duane Morris partner Sheila Slocum Hollis will be speaking at the Canadian Bar Association's (CBA) National Environment, Energy and Resources Law Summit: A New Environment—2010 and Beyond, to be held on April 16-17, 2010, in Montréal, Canada. Ms. Hollis will participate in a panel discussion on the topic of "Energy Trade: Regulatory Compliance Across International and Provincial Borders" on April 16 at 2 p.m.
Domestic and international rules are changing. There are new rules and standards for what goes into fuel, rules governing what kinds of energy sources can feed into the grid and rules for what is "green" and what is not. Panelists will present a snapshot of applicable rules affecting their sector, explain which rules we must look out for and who is making them, and how these rules are being taken into account to ensure business risks are minimized.
About the Conference
As part of the outcome of the recession, new environmental regulations, energy policy, climate change framework and major investment in infrastructure present formidable challenges and opportunities for practitioners. Come to Montréal to prepare yourself for such changes and opportunities.
Kicking off with a keynote address from Line Beauchamp, Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and Parks, the conference will also feature a lunchtime keynote address by Jean Cinq-Mars, Sustainable Development Commissioner of Québec as well as panels discussing relevant energy issues such as:
- practical issues in the trading of emissions credits;
- developments in managing toxic substances;
- cross-border energy and trade issues; and
- updates on hot topics such as brownfield, e-waste and endangered species legislation.
