Duane Morris Partner Stanley Martin to Speak at Associated General Contractors of America's 2011 Conference on Surety Bonding and Construction Risk Management

January 31, 2011 | Naples, Florida | Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples

Stanley MartinDuane Morris partner Stanley A. Martin will be speaking at the Associated General Contractors of America's (ACG) 2011 Conference on Surety Bonding and Construction Risk Management, to be held on January 31 to February 2, 2011, in Naples, Florida.

About the Conference

AGC's 2011 Conference on Surety Bonding and Construction Risk Management promises provide another opportunity for the thought leaders in the construction, surety and insurance industries to climb out on the cutting edge of their professions. The schedule includes a combination of plenary sessions, breakout sessions and seminars intended to encourage attendees to share, to learn and to determine the best ways for all three industries to support each other now and in the future.

On the day that precedes the conference, AGC will host pre-meetings exclusively for the lawyers and risk managers serving as in-house advisors to the general and specialty contractors in the AGC family. The agenda for these meetings will span the practical as well as the more technical matters that in-house professionals have to address, including the best ways to make use of the limited resources at their disposal.

Attendees will have a chance to:

  • learn what the latest economic data says about the current state of the construction industry;
  • learn what the same data says about the surety and insurance industries;
  • assess the latest changes in the legal environment that influences surety and insurance coverage and pricing;
  • see the latest trends in the construction industry, and their ripple effects on risk, through the eyes of the industry's leading CEOs;
  • identify the precise contours of the conflict between the new Accord forms and the contracts common to the construction industry;
  • find out how to investigate and otherwise respond to "hot line" reports that employees have engaged in unethical (and perhaps illegal) conduct;
  • assess the effects that bank financing is now having on contract terms and conditions, and even contract administration;
  • respond to the several changes that the Financial Accounting Standards Board has proposed to require contractors to make to their financial statements; and
  • explore the risk implications of political change in Washington and elsewhere.
