Duane Morris to host British American Business Council Seminar on Global Compliance Enforcement Standards
March 23, 2011 | Philadelphia
| Duane Morris LLP
Duane Morris partner Jonathan P. Armstrong, along with Louis R. Pichini of Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP in Philadelphia, will be a speaker at a British American Business Council event, "UK Bribery Act and U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act: Why Your World Could Change," to be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, from 8-10 a.m. at Duane Morris LLP's Philadelphia office.
About the Program
If you conduct business on either side of the Atlantic you will be affected by the toughest global compliance enforcement standards in the world - The UK Bribery and US Foreign Corrupt Practices Acts.
The UK Government will enforce stringent new legislative anti-bribery standards. Experts from both sides of the pond will tell us what’s new and how to avoid up to 10 years in a British jail or 5 years in a local one!
The new legislation changes the way we do business. In the UK private to private bribery will now be illegal, corporate hospitality will be regulated and it can be an offence to fail to take adequate measures to stamp out corruption. Our session will give practical tips for US businesses doing business at home and in Europe. As fresh compliance measures are being enforced don’t let the whistle blowers catch you for something you did not even know was illegal.
This dynamic, informative and timely business roundtable discussion will explore UK and US compliance rules, what you need to know and how to act to ensure transparency.
Jonathan Armstrong from Duane Morris LLP in London and Lou Pichini from Deloitte & Touche LLP in Philadelphia will discuss the immediacy of these legislative measures, and how it will affect you, your business, and your employees in the countries in which you operate and are incorporated.
