Duane Morris Partner John Nixon to Present at the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys Legal Education Conference

Duane Morris partner John A. Nixon will be speaking at the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys (NAPPA) 2011 Legal Education Conference, to be held on June 22-24, 2011, in Seattle, Washington.
Mr. Nixon will serve as a panelist on the topic, "Ethical Questions for Attorneys Representing Government Retirement Plans," on Wednesday, June 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. This discussion will focus on the changing economic, political and demographic landscape and what these changes mean for public pension plans. Topics include rising contribution rates, regulatory and legislative initiatives, accounting and disclosure, funding status, and similar issues.
Mr. Nixon will also participate in a concurrent workshop on "Tax Hot Topics" on Thursday, June 23, from 10:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. The panelists will cover a variety of hot topics, including what happens in the event of an IRS examination, what is happening in Washington on pick-ups, normal retirement age, and other tax issues, as well as the impact of the new IRS guidance on using group trusts for aggregated investments.
