| Duane Morris LLP
On July 21, 2011, Duane Morris' New York office and the firm's Puerto Rico Practice Group welcomed Puerto Rico Senators Alejandro García Padilla and Eder E. Ortiz Ortiz and leaders of the New York and New Jersey Hispanic business and legal communities to discuss the state of the economy in Puerto Rico, economic development, and greater business development opportunities between Puerto Rico and U.S.- and foreign-based businesses. Former U.S. Ambassador to Chile, Gabriel Guerra-Mondragón, was also a noted guest, and worked with Duane Morris partners Lawrence W. Diamond, Michael D. Grohman, Marco A. Gonzalez, Jr. and Mauro M. Wolfe in organizing the event. A graduate of the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, Senator Padilla served as Secretary of the Puerto Rico Department of Consumer Affairs and was recently nominated by the Popular Democratic Party of Puerto Rico to be its candidate for governor in 2012.
It is rare for a U.S.-based law firm to have a practice group devoted to Puerto Rico. Duane Morris' Puerto Rico Practice Group has represented many U.S. and Puerto Rican entities in matters within Puerto Rico in a variety of practice areas. For more information about the Puerto Rico Practice Group, please contact Lawrence W. Diamond, Marco A. Gonzalez, Jr. or the Duane Morris attorney with whom you are regularly in contact.
