Duane Morris partner Stanley Kaminski will be participating in a panel discussion on "Taxation and Your Business Clients" for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE) on Thursday, February 16, 2012 in Chicago and Friday, February 24, 2012 in Springfield, Illinois.
Starting a new business means immediately facing a barrage of tax issues. Attendees will learn about the tax implications for new business owners from a hypothetical client as he forms a business, deals with initial operation issues, experiences growth and acquisition, is subjected to an audit and eventually determines to close the business.
A panel of faculty experienced in representing Illionois businesses will explore the correlation between Illinois state and local taxes and their impact on business clients for issues such as:
- selecting an appropriate business entity
- operating the business effectively and hiring employees
- growing the business and considering acquisitions
- offering products or services for sale online
- handling a tax audit and assessing audit risks
- closing the business and avoiding negative tax impacts
