Duane Morris Partner Frederick Ball to Participate in "An Exploration of Current Professional Conduct Rules and Ethical Issues Raised by Lauren Stevens and Similar Cases"
April 25, 2012 | Washington, D.C.
| The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center
Duane Morris partner Frederick Ball will be part of an ethics panel discussion on the topic of "An Exploration of Current Professional Conduct Rules and Ethical Issues Raised by Lauren Stevens and Similar Cases" at the Food and Drug Law Institute's (FDLI) 55th Annual Conference on Wednesday, April 25, 2012.
The recent individual prosecution of a senior pharmaceutical industry attorney for her role in responding to a government information request raises several thorny, unresolved questions for both in-house and outside counsel. While the court dismissed the case against her, these professional responsibility issues remain:
- What's the role and responsibility of in-house and outside counsel in responding to government information requests?
- What attorney-client communications can the government gain access to?
- What are the challenges in reconciling an attorney's duty to the client with their duty to serve the judicial system and adhere to ethics rules?
