Duane Morris partner Jonathan Armstrong will be part of a teleconference discussion on the subject of "Maintaining & Transferring International Employee Data: U.S. Disclosure Requirements & Non-US Privacy Mandates" for the American Bar Association (ABA), Section of International Law on Wednesday, May 30, 2012.
This program will provide an overview of data privacy laws in the EU, Canada, and Latin America, especially as they pertain to the transfer of sensitive employee information across borders and create conflicts with US discovery requirements. Panelists will analyze the proposed EU privacy regulation and the new APEC Cross-Border Privacy Regulation from an employment lawyer's perspective, address data privacy principles in Latin America and discuss the safe harbor program as a means of transferring personal data from the EU to the U.S.
