Duane Morris partner Mark Silberman will be discussing "I've Been Served...Now What?" at the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists' (AANA) 2012 Annual Meeting on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, in San Francisco.
The Annual Meeting of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists is designed to provide a variety of educational topics which will develop the maximal effectiveness of CRNAs in their roles as healthcare providers in diverse settings across the nation. The Meeting provides an organized learning experience which augments the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals, and also serves as a forum where research pertinent to the specialty of nurse anesthesia can be presented. Attendees can become familiarized with the latest medical equipment, technology and pharmacological products and network with fellow participants on both professional and social levels.
"I've Been Served...Now What?" is the early morning session under the umbrella of "Improving Quality in Anesthesia" and focuses on helping attendees better understand medical malpractice. Besides its definition, Mr. Silberman will discuss the six stages in a medical malpractice lawsuit, and help identify practices that can minimize exposure once a lawsuit has been filed. In addition, he will compare and contrast the two types of malpractice policies available—claims made and occurrence.
