Duane Morris Partner Sheila Hollis to Speak on "RIO+20: Initial Observations, Insights, and Collective Impressions"
July 25, 2012 | Teleconference
Duane Morris partner Sheila Hollis will share her thoughts on "RIO+20: Initial Observations, Insights, and Collective Impressions" as part of a teleconference sponsored by the ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources on Wednesday, July 25, 2012.
Twenty years after the 1992 Earth Summit where countries first adopted Agenda 21—a blueprint to rethink economic growth, advance social equity, and ensure environmental protection—the world reconvened in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, June 20-22, 2012 for Rio+20. The official discussions focused on two main themes: how to build a green economy to achieve sustainable development and lift people out of poverty, and how to improve international coordination for sustainable development. With this teleconference, members of the ABA delegation to the Rio+20 will provide their initial observations and insights on the conference and the issues presented. This will be the first of a two part series in which the ABA delegation will discuss its initial observations, as reported in the members' blogs, as well as the substance of the delegates' initial report to the ABA regarding the event. In Part II they will present an in-depth look at the results and prospects for future action.
