July 25, 2012 | San Francisco
| Duane Morris LLP
Duane Morris is pleased to host the Bay Area Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society (ACS) panel discussion on "Arizona v. United States: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly," on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at the firm's San Francisco office, at 12:00 p.m.
Tom Saenz and Lucas Guttentag, two of the country's foremost leaders in the fight for immigrants' rights, will discuss the Supreme Court's recent ruling on the constitutionality of the Arizona's immigration law, SB 1070. How does the ruling fit into the Court's jurisprudence regarding the role of state and local officials in enforcing federal immigration law? Was the Court's decision to find three of the four provisions of the law pre-empted while leaving what is perhaps the most troubling provision intact a victory or a loss for immigrants' rights? What does the Court's decision say about forthcoming as-applied challenges to the law?
