Duane Morris Special Counsel Michael Clark to Moderate Panel on "The Watercooler Effect: Managing the Rumor Mill During a White-Collar Investigation and/or Prosecution"
August 3, 2012 | Chicago
| Marriott Hotel
Duane Morris special counsel Michael Clark will serve as moderator for a panel discussion on "The Watercooler Effect: Managing the Rumor Mill During a White-Collar Investigation and/or Prosecution" at the American Bar Association's (ABA) Business Law Section's Annual Meeting on Friday, August 3, 2012.
According to a report issued by the global employee research and consulting firm ISR, 67% of employees hear information about an important matter first through rumor. Managing the rumor mill during an internal investigation and/or white-collar prosecution is the key to keeping the business alive, retaining talented employees, and for its survival after the investigation and/or prosecution. This program will discuss how to manage and, at times, aggressively refute rumors that threaten the survival of the organization in tough times. The panelists will discuss how to manage the rumor mill at a time when the company is under a microscope of a government investigation and/or prosecution. One question we will address is: what should the in-house and outside counsel do when a "no comment" response can be more detrimental than helpful?
