Duane Morris to Host "And Justice for Some: The Federal Judicial Appointment Process and its Impact on Justice in America"
November 7, 2012 | San Francisco
| Duane Morris LLP
Duane Morris is pleased to host the United Way of the Bay Area's Women's Leadership Council lunch and learn on "And Justice for Some: The Federal Judicial Appointment Process and its Impact on Justice in America," on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at the firm's San Francisco office. Guests are invited to bring their own lunch for this program, which runs from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Currently, there are 78 vacancies in the nation's federal courts, and 31 of them are judicial emergencies. Even so, the Senate has failed to confirm many federal judicial nominees, even those facing minimal to no opposition. This lunchtime talk will explore the judicial appointment process, trace the history of the judicial vacancy crisis currently plaguing the federal courts, and explain why this crisis threatens justice for everyone. If current nominees were approved, it would not only resolve several crises, but the number of women on the federal bench would greatly increase. We'll discuss why judicial appointments matter and what you can do to help.
