February 7, 2013 | Boston | Duane Morris LLP
We invite you to join us for a discussion with Jean Yang, Executive Director (former CFO) of the Mass Health Connector. This event is co-sponsored by the Wharton Health Care Management Alumni Association and the Wharton Club of Boston, together with the generous support of our Diamond Sponsor and hosts, Duane Morris LLP.
With the main provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (AKA "Obamacare") set to take effect in 2014, states around the country (some faster than others) are moving to implement the health exchanges that form one of the plan's core platforms. What can patients and states expect from these exchanges? We in Massachusetts have had an advanced look, since the national program is based on the Massachusetts healthcare reform legislation enacted in 2006.
We are delighted to have Jean Yang, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Health Connector join us to share her experience running the Mass Connector, her lessons learned over 6 years of the experiment here, and her perspectives on what other States will face as they implement their connector programs.
Jean Yang, M.B.A., is the Executive Director (former CFO), Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority (Health. Connector), which is the state's Health Insurance Exchange established under the Massachusetts landmark health reform law of 2006. In her role as CFO, Jean manages all aspects of financial and plan management functions of the organization, as well as playing a key leadership role in the Health Connector's implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Prior to joining the Health Connector, Jean was Director of Contracting Strategy & Analytics at Tufts Health Plan in Massachusetts, where she worked extensively on health care reimbursement issues and payer-provider collaboration initiatives. Jean started her career as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company and subsequently Deloitte Consulting, where she served a wide variety of clients in the health care industry.
Jean graduated from Peking University of China and earned her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
