Duane Morris Partner Andrew Hahn to Moderate Panel on "Demystifying the Process of Becoming a Successful Neutral"
March 28, 2013 | New York City
Duane Morris partner Andrew Hahn will moderate a panel on "Demystifying the Process of Becoming a Successful Neutral" at the New York State Bar Association's (NYSBA) conference on Diversity in the Dispute Resolution Process—The Final Frontier on Thursday, March 28, 2013, in New York City.
The steps to becoming a successful arbitrator or mediator are not clearly evident. What is even more shrouded in secrecy is the selection process of an arbitrator or mediator for a particular matter even after an individual is placed on a roster of neutrals. What is the role of diversity, if any, in the neutral selection process? These panel discussions are designed to provide insights and guidance to women and minority attorneys who are considering becoming arbitrators or mediators as all or part of their practice. The evening will provide practical tips and advice from a distinguished group of panelists with extensive experience as neutrals or with neutral selection and will provide information on training and skills needed to become a neutral.
The panel on "Demystifying the Process of Becoming a Successful Neutral" will examine the fundamentals of becoming a neutral and learning how to identify arbitration/mediation institutions and users. Discussion will also cover the question of whether arbitration/mediation institutions seek diversity in their neutrals, why it is important, and how to become selected as a neutral.
