Duane Morris partner Lori Ocheltree will discuss "Social Media Networking Sites and Employment-Related Decisions" and "Privacy and Other Workplace Issues" at Sterling Education Services' 10th Annual Labor and Employment Law 2013 in San Francisco on Wednesday, April 16, 2013.
"Social Media Networking Sites and Employment-Related Decisions" will cover the use of social media in the employment context, including potential risks for employers in using social networking sites for employment decisions. Discussion will also examine some of the best practices and policies for minimizing an employer's risks, and take a look at some case studies to illustrate the pros and cons of employers using social media.
"Privacy and Other Workplace Issues" provides a comprehensive examination of potential issues in the workplace, from hiring and firing discriminations to retaliation claims under civil rights statutes and workplace handbooks and agreements. Other topics include: the use of credit history/bankruptcy; applicants with prior employee complaints; unemployed, GINA and Family Responsibilities Discrimination; privacy issues and ramifications; and handling bullies, whistleblowers and other difficult employees.
