Duane Morris partner Ron Oliner will discuss "Municipal Restructuring" for the Northern California Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) on Thursday, June 13, 2013.
The panel will review the hypothetical scenario of a Northern California city's inability to meet its obligations for the coming fiscal year—much like the City of Vallejo—and explore what happens when their City Council votes in favor of a chapter 9 filing by authorizing mediation under AB 506. What is it like for the city in a distressed context? What are the possibilities and limitations outside of chapter 9? Is a bankruptcy really necessary or can the city tax its way out of this? What are the key priorities and issues, what lessons can be learned from similar situations? Panelists will explore these, as well as many other questions, in this breakfast discussion.
