When a junior at Liberty High School, Duane Morris associate Jarret Hitchings was severely injured while returning a kickoff against Pottsville in an Eastern Conference playoff game at Bethlehem Area School District Stadium.
He was taken from the field in an ambulance and en route to Lehigh Valley Hospital a code-red trauma was called. He had broken ribs, a broken clavicle, a bruise to the right lung. Most worrisome was a hepatic artery and a severed liver.
In short, Hitchings was in a fight for his life.
