University of San Diego Retains Duane Morris LLP as General Legal Counsel

San Diego, CA - The University of San Diego announced today that it has retained Duane Morris LLP to serve as its new outside general legal counsel. The arrangement between the university and the law firm is slated to begin January 1, 2005 with a five-year exclusive arrangement.
"Our decision to contract with Duane Morris LLP to provide all of the university's legal services assures us that USD will receive the benefits of a comprehensive nationwide firm with an excellent reputation. We are confident that we have found the right partner for the road ahead," said University of San Diego president Mary E. Lyons.

We look forward to providing the University of San Diego with the best array of legal services available," said Robert G. Copeland, a corporate partner in Duane Morris' San Diego office, who will play the lead role for the firm in the relationship with the university. "What separates our firm from others, besides the quality of our work, is that our arrangements with USD will keep the university's legal expenses down, permitting more resources to be invested in its programs and growth."
Duane Morris will provide USD with a wide-range of legal services including general business, real estate, litigation, intellectual property, academic and student affairs, public safety, employment and labor, finance, employee benefits and planned giving. In addition, a number of ancillary businesses of the firm will be available to provide a wide array of multidimensional programs including assistance to the university with its current capital campaign.
