Duane Morris, together with the ACLU of Wyoming, is representing the Buffalo Field Campaign in their request to Yellowstone National Park to allow public access to an area near Gardiner, Montana where captured wild bison are being held for slaughter. Partner James J. Holman in a letter to Yellowstone Administrator Dan Wenk says that the closure of the Stephens Creek Facility and surrounding areas of the park violates the public's right to observe the capture activities. Holman's representation of the parties is part of Duane Morris' Pro Bono Program.
Holman is requesting for the Park Service to permit the Buffalo Field Campaign immediate and future access to all the sites involved with the Bison Cull Activity. More than 250 Yellowstone bison have been captured and slaughtered or removed for research purposes this winter. Officials want to reduce the population by up to 900 bison to curb the animals' winter migration into Montana.
