Duane Morris' Houston Office Adds Corporate Partner Marco A. Castilla

Houston, August 2, 2010—Duane Morris LLP is pleased to announce that Marco A. Castilla has joined the firm's growing Corporate Practice Group as a partner in its Houston office. His arrival strengthens Duane Morris' international capabilities—particularly in the area of Latin American and U.S. cross-border transactions—and continues to expand the reach of the firm's Houston office in matters in Latin America. Castilla joins Duane Morris from Haynes and Boone, LLP.
Castilla has more than 18 years of experience in representing U.S., Mexican and other international clients in structuring foreign operations and in connection with investments, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions in more than a dozen countries. Castilla's international experience includes advising clients in connection with investments in: the energy and telecommunications industries in Latin America; manufacturing; real estate; financial services; high-tech; and a wide range of infrastructure projects including contracts with host governments and multilateral institutions. Castilla has significant experience working with the Inter-American Development Bank, the Inter-American Investment Corporation, the International Finance Corporation and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation on variety of project finance matters. He also represents U.S. banks in cross-border financial transactions involving Mexican and Latin American corporations that have sales or operations both in the U.S. and Mexico.
Castilla is a member of the Inter-American Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Mexican Bar Association, the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, and the Harvard International Law Society. He has served as a supervisory board member of the Greater Houston Partnership; corporate advisory board member of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; advisory member of the Center for Houston Future and alumni of its Leadership Forum; board member of the Mexican Institute of Greater Houston; board member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston; and co-chair of the Harvard Immigration Law Center.
Castilla earned his LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 1995 and his J.D. from Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City in 1990, summa cum laude. He is a certified foreign legal consultant on laws of Mexico in both Texas and Washington, D.C. Castilla is admitted to practice in Mexico and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
