Duane Morris Partner David Charapp Honored with Client Choice Award
SAN DIEGO, March 11, 2012—Duane Morris partner David A. Charapp of the firm's San Diego office has been honored by the International Law Office (ILO) and Lexology's "Client Choice Awards USA & Canada 2013" as the winner in the Healthcare & Life Sciences category for California and the overall winner for that category in the United States and Canada. The Client Choice awards survey senior corporate counsel only, and this year's winners were chosen from a pool of more than 2,000 client assessments.
The Client Choice awards recognize law firms and partners around the world that stand apart for the excellent client service they provide. The criteria for the awards focus on "the ability to add real value to clients' business above and beyond other players in the market." This year, the research was expanded in order to choose winners by state and province in the United States and Canada.
Charapp is co-chair of the firm's Technology Transactions and Licensing Practice Group and represents life sciences and technology companies with their critical partnering, licensing and financing transactions, as well as operational agreements such as those for manufacturing and supply, distribution and clinical and pre-clinical research. He has substantial experience as an in-house attorney, having been associate general counsel for Santarus, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company, and Kosan Biosciences Incorporated, a biotechnology company acquired by Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. In 2010 and 2011, the Legal 500 recognized Charapp for patent licensing. He earned his law degree from Boston College Law School and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina.
