Duane Morris Corporate Chair George J. Nemphos Named to University of Baltimore Foundation Board
BALTIMORE, July 19, 2011—Duane Morris partner George J. Nemphos—managing partner of the firm's Baltimore office and chair of its international Corporate Practice Group—has been elected to the board of the University of Baltimore Foundation, Inc. (UBF). The board is responsible for providing leadership and advice to the University of Baltimore, and is composed of leaders in business, law and the applied liberal arts. Several members of the board, including Nemphos, are University of Baltimore alumni.
Nemphos practices in the areas of corporate and securities law, and has extensive experience representing private and public companies, venture capitalists, angel investors and private equity funds. His clients have included emerging businesses; high-tech and telecommunications companies; private equity and venture capital funds; manufacturing companies; and companies in the capital markets, life sciences and homeland security industries.
As Baltimore managing partner, Nemphos has led the office in achieving rapid growth in both lawyer head count and scope-of-practice offerings. He is a graduate of the 2006 Greater Baltimore Committee Leadership program, which selects Baltimore leaders from the business world as strategists for the future of the region. In 2008, Nemphos was named as one of Institutional Investor's "10 Rising Stars of Private Equity and M&A Law." He is a 1994 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he was a member of the Heuisler Honor Society and a member of the Tax Moot Court team. Nemphos also holds an LL.M. in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center and is a graduate of Boston University.
