BioPharm Insight League Tables Rank Firm First in Deal Volume and Only Firm in Top Two in Both Volume and Value

SAN DIEGO, December 6, 2013—Duane Morris LLP is pleased to announce that it has again been named a top legal advisor worldwide in biotech and pharma licensing deals, according to BioPharm Insight, an independent business intelligence firm that is part of the Financial Times Group.

According to BioPharm Insight's third quarter league tables, Duane Morris is ranked first in deal volume for global biotech and pharma licensing agreements, and is the only firm ranked in the top two in both volume and deal value. The firm's reported transactions were valued at $933 million. The third quarter rankings follow the firm's strong showing in the second quarter league tables, where Duane Morris tied for 5th place by number of global licensing deals, and ranked in 8th place by deal value.

The rankings represent the growth of Duane Morris' Life Sciences Group. Last month, San Diego partner Vicki Norton was named to the AIPLA Biotech Committee as Issues Leader. The group has added two new partners to its practice in 2013: Jonathan Lourie joined the firm's Boston office in July, and Les Croland joined the firm's Miami office in March, adding to Duane Morris' already robust capabilities in representing clients in the life sciences. The rankings also highlight the strength of the firm's Technology Transactions and Licensing practice group, which assists clients with licensing and collaboration transactions.

The life sciences lawyers at Duane Morris have decades of experience guiding life sciences clients from startups to publicly traded companies, as well as academic and research institutions, working in a broad range of technologies, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices and diagnostics at all stages of the product life cycle, from discovery through clinical development and commercialization. Many of Duane Morris' life science attorneys have been in-house counsel at life sciences companies and/or have worked as scientists in research laboratories.
