Duane Morris New York and Philadelphia Offices Add Trial Team Stephen Sussman and Susan V. Metcalfe
NEW YORK AND PHILADELPHIA, April 8, 2013—Duane Morris is pleased to announce that Stephen Sussman and Susan V. Metcalfe have joined the firm's growing Trial Practice Group. Sussman has joined as a partner in New York, and Metcalfe has joined as a partner in Philadelphia. The addition of Sussman and Metcalfe further strengthens Duane Morris' trial practice, particularly in the areas of franchise and general commercial litigation. They join Duane Morris from Lebensfeld Borker Sussman & Sharon, LLP.
Stephen Sussman focuses his practice on business litigation with an emphasis on franchise litigation, as well as business transactions. He has represented companies in the retail, food and convenience franchise industries, among others, for more than 40 years in a variety of litigation and business matters.
Sussman earned his J.D. in 1970 from Columbia University School of Law and his B.A. in 1966 from Rutgers University. He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey.
Metcalfe represents clients in disputes involving trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets; non-competition agreements; products liability; breach of contract; directors and officers liability; and sales and manufacturing. She has represented global franchisors and other companies in litigation involving wrongful franchise termination, breach of manufacturing agreements under the Uniform Commercial Code and other business disputes. She has prosecuted trademark infringement actions and helped clients in a variety of other intellectual property litigation matters.
Metcalfe is a Trustee of LG Health Innovation Solutions, Inc., a company that researches, develops and implements innovative solutions for high-quality, economically viable healthcare delivery systems, working in conjunction with Lancaster General Health—a nationally recognized not-for-profit health system. She is also a trustee and Member of the Fundraising Committee of the Lancaster Bar Association and a trustee of Lancaster Central Market Trust. Metcalfe has written articles and made presentations on intellectual property issues and litigation technology.
Metcalfe earned her J.D., cum laude, in 2000 from The Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law, where she was an editor on the Dickinson Law Review and a member of the National Trial Team, the Trial Moot Court Board and the Appellate Moot Court Board. She earned her M.A. in 1992 in English with a concentration in Renaissance Literature from the University of Virginia. She graduated with a B.A. in 1990 in English, summa cum laude, from Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New York.
