Duane Morris Partner James "J." Ferrelli Receives New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education Service Award

CHERRY HILL, N.J., June 6, 2011—Duane Morris partner James "J." Ferrelli of the firm's Cherry Hill office has been selected to receive one of the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (NJ-ICLE)'s 2011 Distinguished Service Awards. Candidates for the award are reviewed and nominated by the NJ-ICLE awards committee and then approved by the board, based upon their contributions to NJ-ICLE and its educational mission. Ferrelli will receive the award at a cocktail reception on June 20, 2011, at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick.

Over the past year, Ferrelli chaired two joint-blue-ribbon committees that were charged by the boards of trustees of both the New Jersey State Bar Association and New Jersey State Bar Foundation with addressing issues pertaining to NJ-ICLE operations. Based upon the work of the NJ-ICLE Review Committee, the trustees of the association and the foundation approved the transition of NJ-ICLE from a separate joint venture to a division of the New Jersey State Bar Association. Thereafter, Ferrelli chaired the NJ-ICLE Transition Committee, which has overseen the transition of NJ-ICLE's operations and administration into the bar association.

Ferrelli focuses his practice on business litigation, products liability and class actions in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and he has represented corporate and individual clients in complex commercial matters involving breach of contract, real estate, employment disputes, franchise and distributorship issues, unfair competition, copyright and trademark, business torts, and corporate governance. He is a trustee of the New Jersey State Bar Association and serves as the chair of the editorial board for the bar association's New Jersey Lawyer Magazine. Ferrelli is a past president of the Burlington County Bar Association and has served as an officer and on its board of trustees for more than 10 years. He is a graduate of New York University School of Law and of Boston College.
