Duane Morris Partner J. Rodman Steele, Jr. Honored with NOPE’s Spirit of Living Award
BOCA RATON, April 19, 2013—Duane Morris partner J. Rodman Steele of the firm's Boca Raton office has been honored by the Narcotics Overdose Prevention & Education (NOPE) Task Force with its Spirit of Living Award. NOPE works to diminish the frequency and impact of overdose death through community education, family support and purposeful advocacy. The award was presented to Steele at a benefit on March 23 in Tequesta, Fla.
Steele has been involved with NOPE since its inception in 2004 and has supported the organization by providing pro bono legal assistance and making contacts within the community. Steele also previously served as treasurer of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) Foundation, a statewide foundation in Florida that raised all of the money to implement the prescription drug monitoring program which is now part of the Florida Department of Health.
Steele practices in all areas of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets and copyright law. He has extensive trademark experience as well as extensive patent experience, particularly in the mechanical arts. Steele represents clients from a wide variety of industries, including food product companies, technology companies and universities. He is board certified in intellectual property law by the Florida Bar. Steele is a graduate of Penn State Dickinson School of Law and a graduate of George Washington University Law School and the University of Delaware.
