U.S. News-Best Lawyers Ranks Duane Morris Number One in Maryland for Serving Private Funds and Hedge Funds Clients
Only Law Firm in Maryland to Achieve Top-Tier Ranking in Funds Practice
BALTIMORE, September 22, 2010—Duane Morris is pleased to announce that it achieved a top-tier ranking in the area of private funds and hedge funds in the inaugural publication of U.S. News Media Group and Best Lawyers 2010 Best Law Firms list. Duane Morris was the only law firm to achieve this ranking in Maryland. In addition, Duane Morris' Baltimore office received tier-one rankings in private equity law and venture capital law. In June 2010, Baltimore office managing partner George Nemphos was named chair of the firm's worldwide Corporate Practice Group, which includes more than 130 lawyers.
As Baltimore managing partner, Nemphos has led the office in achieving rapid growth in both lawyer head count and scope-of-practice offerings. He has extensive experience representing both private and public companies, venture capitalists and angel investors, with particular emphasis on private equity funds and deals. He frequently represents clients in mergers and acquisitions transactions as well as securities law, compliance and general corporate matters.
The U.S. News-Best Lawyers publication gave Duane Morris 40 citations for excellence in 14 offices, as well as nine national citations for excellence. Top-tier national awards were in Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law, Construction Law, and Insurance Law.
