MIAMI, August 1, 2014—Duane Morris LLP is pleased to announce that Alvin D. Lodish and Scott D. Kravetz have joined the firm's Trial Practice Group as partners in its Miami office. In addition, Michael J. Shuman has also joined the firm as special counsel. The three attorneys add to Duane Morris' trial team in South Florida, particularly in the area of construction law, a practice that is consistently ranked by Chambers USA among the national leaders in the industry. Lodish, Kravetz and Shuman join Duane Morris from Daniels Kashtan.

Lodish focuses his practice on a wide range of complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on representing developers and corporate clients in real estate, construction and property disputes. He also handles corporate governance disputes relating to shareholders, partners and joint ventures. Lodish represents mainly corporate clients in large-scale class actions. He has handled complex commercial cases through trial, arbitration, mediation and appeal before both state and federal trial and appellate courts.

Lodish previously served as a senior trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice Office of International Affairs in Washington, D.C. Lodish is a member of The Florida Bar, Miami-Dade County Bar Association and U.S. Court of Federal Claims Bar Association. He is also a member of the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He is admitted to practice in Florida, Washington, D.C. and Ohio.

Lodish earned his J.D. in 1977 from Antioch School of Law. He earned a Master of Public Administration in 1974 and a B.A. in Philosophy and History in 1973, both from the University of Pittsburgh.

Kravetz focuses his practice in the area of complex commercial litigation, with particular emphasis on real estate and construction litigation, including cost overrun, delay, design-defect and surety/bond litigation. He has represented numerous owners and developers in projects at all levels of complexity, from simple contract disputes to construction disputes with claims in excess of $50 million. He is a member of the Florida Bar and serves on the City of Coral Gables Construction Regulation Board.

Kravetz earned a J.D. in 1989 from the University of Miami and a B.A. in Journalism and Communications in 1986 from the University of Florida.

Shuman focuses his practice on counseling clients in business litigation, construction litigation, restructuring and adversary proceedings, intellectual property litigation and contract negotiation. His experience includes representing national financial institutions, national commercial and residential developers, hotel projects and ownership groups, international banking software companies, national laboratory testing companies, medical facilities, investment groups, architects, contractors, and small business owners in various settings. Shuman has also litigated IP disputes in federal court, practiced before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and made trademark application to the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and Florida.

Shuman earned a J.D. in 2005 from the University of Miami School of Law, cum laude. He graduated in 2001 with a B.A. in History from Tulane University.
