Duane Morris' New York Office Adds Intellectual Property Special Counsel Mitchell A. Frank
NEW YORK, May 10, 2010—Duane Morris LLP is pleased to announce that Mitchell A. Frank joined the firm in its New York office as a special counsel in its growing Intellectual Property Practice Group. His addition strengthens the firm’s depth of IP law capability in New York and nationally. Frank joins Duane Morris from Unilever United States, Inc., where he was assistant general counsel for commercial law and trademarks. Unilever’s trademark portfolio is one of the largest in the world.
Frank focuses his practice on all aspects of trademark and copyright counseling, from trademark clearance, enforcement and protection to trademark and copyright aspects of acquisitions and divestitures. His experience includes overseeing the protection, maintenance and enforcement of global trademark portfolios as well as transactions and trademark litigation.
At Unilever United States, Inc., Frank was responsible for all phases of trademark and copyright protection for Unilever’s North American foods and ice cream business for brands that include Lipton, Knorr, Hellmann’s, Best Foods, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!, Wish-Bone, Bertolli, Ragu, Skippy, Country Crock, Imperial, Promise, Ben & Jerry’s, Good Humor, Breyers and Klondike. He counseled Unilever management on trademark maintenance, enforcement and protection, and unfair competition matters; negotiated and drafted trademark license agreements; and reviewed and approved advertising, sales materials, packaging, labeling and website content. In addition, he handled all trademark and copyright aspects of acquisitions and divestitures and supervised and managed outside counsel on trademark litigation.
Frank is a member of the International Trademark Association and has served as a director on its board. He served as a law clerk to the Hon. Mark A. Costantino of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
Frank earned his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law, where he was lead articles editor of the Syracuse Law Review. He received his B.A. from Johns Hopkins University.
