Duane Morris Partner James "J." Ferrelli Reappointed As Chair of New Jersey State Bar Association's Continuing Legal Education Advisory Committee
CHERRY Hill, N.J., June 22, 2012—Duane Morris partner James J. "J." Ferrelli of the firm's Cherry Hill office has been reappointed to the New Jersey State Bar Association’s (NJSBA) Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Advisory Committee by NJSBA President Kevin McCann to serve as chair of the committee for the 2012–2013 year. A former trustee of the NJSBA, Ferrelli's reappointment as committee chair continues his leadership role in the NJSBA’s CLE efforts. In addition to serving as chair of the CLE Advisory Committee in the 2011–2012 year, Ferrelli led the NJSBA committees' studying and reporting on changes to the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (NJ-ICLE), and transitioning NJ-ICLE into a section of the NJSBA.
The CLE Advisory Committee oversees the operation of NJ-ICLE—the preeminent CLE provider in New Jersey. A fully accredited CLE provider in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, NJ-ICLE provides more than 275 live and online seminars annually throughout New Jersey; offers audio/video CLE packages and online video CLE; develops software programs specifically designed for practicing attorneys; and publishes comprehensive treatises and lecture handbooks. In addition to overseeing NJ-ICLE's operations, the Advisory Committee is responsible for making recommendations to the NJSBA Board of Trustees concerning the Association's CLE activities. The committee also monitors and oversees the NJSBA’s compliance with CLE rules to ensure it maintains accreditation in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
Ferrelli focuses his practice on business litigation, products liability and class actions in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He has represented corporate and individual clients in complex commercial matters involving breach of contract, real estate, employment disputes, franchise and distributorship issues, unfair competition, copyright and trademark, business torts, and corporate governance. Ferrelli is a past trustee of the New Jersey State Bar Association and serves as chair of the Editorial Board for the Bar Association's New Jersey Lawyer magazine as well as chair of the aforementioned CLE Advisory Committee. He is a past president of the Burlington County Bar Association and has served as an officer and on its board of trustees for more than 10 years. Ferrelli is a graduate of New York University School of Law and Boston College.
