Marc BrookmanNEW YORK, July 10, 2013—Duane Morris LLP is pleased to announce that Marc Brookman, of counsel in the firm's Philadelphia office, will participate in an upcoming Disaster Assistance Advisory Services Panel convened by the Urban Land Institute (ULI). Panelists will review specific studies, plans and reports, as well as assess best practices related to rebuilding parts of the New York/New Jersey region devastated by Super Storm Sandy. The Advisory Services Panel, titled "After Sandy: Advancing Strategies for Long-Term Resilience and Adaptability," is set for July 14 to July 19 in New York.

Brookman will join local and international representatives of the land use, real estate, finance and public policy professions, as well as climate change and sustainability experts, in seeking to prepare the region's response to future large-scale events. The panelists will consult with regional stakeholders, tour several locations affected by Super Storm Sandy and collaborate to produce a guide for future development in the region that would ensure the resilience and adaptability of the region's infrastructure. The group will present its findings at a press conference on July 22. The panel, which will be chaired by ULI's Senior Resident Fellow John McIlwain, was created at the request of three ULI District Councils—New York, Northern New Jersey and Philadelphia.

"I'm honored to participate in this important ULI event," said Brookman. "It is vital that we produce a viable plan for focused, smart development in the New York/New Jersey region, with an emphasis on protecting against future natural disasters. I look forward to contributing my thoughts and experience in the areas of land use and development to such an esteemed group of thought leaders."

Brookman practices in the areas of real estate development, acquisition and disposition, zoning and land use, common interest documentation, leasing and housing.
