Duane Morris Joins San Diego State University Advisory Forum; Joins With Entrepreneurs, Others, on Business Issues Facing the Region
SAN DIEGO, OCTOBER 13 - The San Diego office of Duane Morris LLP, one of the nation's 100 largest law firms, has joined the Entrepreneurial Management Center's Closely-Held and Family Business Forum at the San Diego State University's College of Business Administration, and will participate in its first meeting on Thursday, October 14.
Duane Morris' new role will allow the firm to present at the Business Forum's meetings, prepare articles on legal and business topics for the Entrepreneurial Management Center newsletter, participate in roundtable meetings, sit on panels for seminars, and join the Forum's Advisory Committee. The focus of the forum, says Duane Morris attorney Stuart L. Sorenson, is "to support, through education and networking, the Southern California entrepreneurial business community." Sorenson, a partner in the Firm's corporate practice group, will lead the Duane Morris contingent in its EMC involvement.
"We are in the midst of a vibrant business community that is coming back strong to meet the challenges that face entrepreneurs. We provide legal support that helps get entrepreneurs where they want to go," said Sorenson. "We are thrilled to join with colleagues in an academic setting to address the changing realities that face our clients and friends throughout the business world."
The Closely-Held and Family Business Forum is a partnership between private business organizations and the Entrepreneurial Management Center to provide innovative curriculum, unique programs and special events to its members, which include Ernst & Young, Merrill Lynch, Lockton and Comerica, The goal of the EMC's Closely-Held and Family Business Forum at SDSU is to drive the growth and development of member businesses by providing entrepreneurial programs, resources and peer support to closely-held and family businesses in the San Diego area.
Sorenson, who joined Duane Morris this year, has participated in more than $10 billion in transactions in a variety of industries, including telecommunications, medical devices, biotech, publishing and consumer products. Other Duane Morris lawyers will also be invited to serve as speakers and panelists at the forum.
