Duane Morris Bankruptcy Partner Receives Honor; Margery N. Reed invited to become fellow of American College

CHICAGO, MARCH 17 - Margery N. Reed, a partner in the Duane Morris Business Reorganization and Financial Restructuring Practice Group, has been named a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, a selective group of the nation's top bankruptcy lawyers.

Reed joins the approximately 630 lawyers who have been selected for the American College of Bankruptcy honor, out of more than 15,000 bankruptcy lawyers nationwide. New fellows are selected by existing fellows of the College. Reed joins Duane Morris partners John Collen of the Chicago office, William S. Katchen of the Newark office, Neil P. Olack of the Atlanta office and David T. Sykes of the Philadelphia office as a College fellow.

A ceremony will take place March 18 in the Great Hall of the Supreme Court of the United States and will be presided over by Ralph R. Mabey, Chair of the College. The keynote speaker will be Harvey R. Miller, Esq.

Reed is one of 34 nominees from the United States and abroad being inducted in the Sixteenth Class of College Fellows. All are being honored and recognized for their professional excellence and exceptional contributions to the fields of bankruptcy and insolvency.

The Chambers USA Guide to America's Leading Business Lawyers (2004 and 2003 editions) lists Duane Morris as having one of the top three bankruptcy practices in Pennsylvania and recommends Reed as "highly attuned" to her clients needs, and states: "Margery Reed, viewed by competitors as a terrific advocate for clients, also has an eye on insolvency law while handling a variety of matters."

Reed was named as one of the "Women Leaders" in the Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly special supplement, "Women in the Profession," 2004.

As past chairperson of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Conference, Reed led an organization of approximately 350 bankruptcy attorneys. Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, she is a member of the American Bar Association (vice chairperson of the ABA's Business Bankruptcy - Business Transactions Subcommittee) as well as the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia bar associations. Reed is a 1982 graduate of Villanova University School of Law and a graduate of Vassar College.

The American College of Bankruptcy is an honorary professional and educational association of bankruptcy and insolvency professionals. The College plays an important role in sustaining professional excellence in this rapidly expanding field of expertise. College Fellows include commercial and consumer bankruptcy attorneys, insolvency accountants, turnaround and workout specialists, law professors, judges, government officials and others involved in the bankruptcy and insolvency community. Nominees for Fellows are extended an invitation to join based on a record of achievement reflecting the highest standards of professionalism.

Criteria for selection include: the highest standard of professionalism, ethics, character, integrity, professional expertise and leadership contributing to the enhancement of bankruptcy and insolvency law and practice; sustained evidence of scholarship, teaching, lecturing or writing on bankruptcy or insolvency; and commitment to elevate knowledge and understanding of the profession and public respect for the practice.
