Duane Morris Partner Thomas G. Spencer Appointed to Montgomery County Mental Health/Mental Retardation Board

PHILADELPHIA, April 28 - The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners has appointed Thomas G. Spencer, a partner at Duane Morris LLP, to serve on the Montgomery County Mental Health/Mental Retardation Board.

Spencer, who practices corporate and securities law in the Philadelphia office of Duane Morris, and his wife, Diane, have been involved for many years with local organizations that aid people with developmental disabilities. He began his service to the county after the birth of their daughter Katie, now 16, who has Down Syndrome. Tom has been most active in the ARC of Montgomery County, a non-profit group that advocates for the rights of people with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. In addition, it provides early intervention services for children with these special needs.

The Mental Health/Mental Retardation Board assists the Board of Commissioners and the administrator of Montgomery County's Mental Health/Mental Retardation, Drug and Alcohol, and Behavioral Health Programs in the development and continuation of such support services. The Board proposes plans and establishes policies to assure the quality, comprehensiveness, availability and efficient operation of the county's services. Tom's term will run through December 31, 2007.
