Duane Morris Partner Thomas Meagher Named Vice Chair of Intellectual Property Owners Association Committee

NEW YORK, February 1, 2006 -Duane Morris LLP is pleased to announce that the Intellectual Property Owners Association has named partner Thomas F. Meagher the Vice Chair of its Arbitration and Mediation Committee. Tom is a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Practice Group in its New York office and also practices out of the Princeton, NJ office. The committee, part of IPO's Litigation and Dispute Resolution Division, promotes the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution as a viable option for businesses and law firms to resolve intellectual property disputes.
The Intellectual Property Owners Association is a trade association for owners of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets that acts as an advocate for the interests of its members on legislative and international IP issues. Tom joins representatives of both law firms and corporate entities on the committee, including the Procter & Gamble Company, Cargill, Inc., and Rohm & Haas Co., large firms including Fulbright & Jaworski, Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr, and Jones Day, and boutiques such as Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto and Morgan & Finnegan.
A patent litigator and prosecutor with experience as both in-house and outside patent counsel, Tom has represented a diverse range of clients in patent infringement disputes for more than two decades. He has also advised clients on strategies for protecting their intellectual property and reducing the risk of infringement. He is currently a member of several intellectual property-related organizations, including the National Patent Advisory Council of the American Arbitration Association, the New York and New Jersey Intellectual Property Law Associations, the Licensing Executives Society, the New Jersey Technology Council, and the Association of University Technology Managers. He is also a member of the Princeton Bar Association.
Tom earned his J.D. in 1982 from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, and graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1979 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
