Litigator Tom Dent Joins Duane Morris in Chicago
CHICAGO, July 26, 2006 - Duane Morris LLP is pleased to welcome Thomas Dent, formerly a partner with Seyfarth Shaw LLP, to its Chicago office. Tom joins the firm as Special Counsel in the Trial Practice Group, focusing on white-collar criminal defense and civil litigation.
An accomplished litigator, Tom brings more than 35 years of trial experience in both private and public practice to Duane Morris. Since joining Seyfarth Shaw in 1979, he has represented a wide range of clients, from industries to individuals, in internal investigations as well as criminal and tort litigation, and regulatory actions. He has counseled clients in litigation concerning all aspects of white-collar criminal law, including government contracts fraud, criminal fraud investigations and securities fraud. An assistant U.S. attorney in Chicago from 1970 to 1978, Tom has prosecuted federal criminal violations of all kinds at the grand jury, trial and appellate levels. In that role, Tom tried cases involving securities fraud, corporate embezzlement, immigration, foreign trade, narcotics and environmental law, among others. He is also experienced in the area of federal, state and agency civil litigation. In addition, Tom has been active as a law instructor for the Department of Justice's continuing legal education program in trial practice, and has taught constitutional law for the Drug Enforcement Administration. He frequently presents on criminal prosecution and defense to both professional organizations and government agencies.
A 1967 graduate of DePaul University, Tom earned his J.D. from DePaul University Law School in 1970.
