Construction Attorney Edward B. Gentilcore Joins Duane Morris in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, May 1, 2007 - Duane Morris LLP is pleased to welcome Edward B. Gentilcore, formerly of Reed Smith LLP, as a partner in its Pittsburgh office. Ed joins the firm's Trial Practice Group and its rapidly growing Construction, Government Contracts & Surety Law sub-group.
Ed, recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in Construction and Surety Law and AV rated by the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Rating System, focuses his practice in general and complex civil litigation with a considerable emphasis on construction litigation. He has represented owners, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, construction managers, specialty trade contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers in construction-related matters, including those involving design-build, delays, extras, contract negotiation and compliance, construction safety, payment and mechanics' liens issues. Ed also has considerable experience in the preparation of design and construction contracts, with a focus on dispute prevention considerations. He has prepared and negotiated agreements for a wide variety of private, public, commercial and industrial projects. In his previous experience as liaison to the general counsel of a major engineering and construction company, he monitored litigation and supervised local counsel involved in construction litigation throughout the country.
He serves on the Division 10 (Environmental and Legislation) Steering Committee for the ABA Forum Committee on the Construction Industry and is a member of the Construction Litigation Committee of the ABA Section of Litigation, where he recently served as a co-chair of the Environmental Subcommittee, and where he currently serves as Committee Liaison to the other ABA Committees. Ed helped form the Construction Law Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association, served as chair of that organization, and currently serves on its Publications Committee. He also serves as a representative to the Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania and is a member of that organization's Activities Committee, Education Committee and Professional Council.
Ed speaks and writes on a wide range of construction-related topics around the United States. Recent presentations include "Jury Instructions in Construction Litigation: Challenges in Crafting Compliant and Convincing Charges in Construction Cases," delivered in San Diego; "From Blueprints Through Red Tape to Green Buildings and All the Colors in Between (and Hopefully Beyond): Practical and Contractual Considerations on Your Road to LEED™ Certification," presented in Florida, New York and Pennsylvania; and "Pennsylvania's Mechanics' Lien Law of 1963 and the January 1, 2007 Amendments: Eventually, All Things Inevitably Must Change," delivered to numerous audiences around Pennsylvania.
Ed earned his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1987, cum laude, and he was Business Editor of the University of Pittsburgh Law Review. Edward graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A., cum laude, in 1984.About Duane Morris
